Highlights:
Looking for a centrally located, upbeat spot with throwback hip hop music (think House of Pain). Fancy a spot of lunch with coffee (allthough not 3rd wave) and delicious cake after? Gorilla Kitchen is for you. Located in walking distance from Karlsplatz, Gorilla Kitchen has on one end awesome ‘street food’ burritos bowls loaded with anything you like (pulled pork, chicken, beef, vegetarian and vegan too). You can start here for a filling bite before moving to the other end where they’re offering coffee and loads of mouth-watering sweet things (brownies, crumbles, decedent pastries). They also have sandwiches with varieties such as tuna cream, roast beef and savoury pastries.
Child Amenities:
While your baby/child might not sleep here as the music is rather funky (our boys totally enjoyed that though!), you can make use of the available highchairs and plop them in for the snack you packed while you simultaneously enjoy some Gorilla goodies. Just don’t let them get too messy – sadly there’s no changing table here.
The staff, all dressed in black t-shirt’s sporting the iconic gorilla outline in white are friendly and fun. One feels welcome to settle in and stay awhile, or realistically until the kids have had enough. When they have, you just head down to Karlsplatz and loop the little tree lined paths if you need them to sleep. If not you can take them to the Spielplatz also located there.
Accessibility
Both ends are step-free (check opening hours though as the cafe differs from the burrito end). You can easily navigate from one end to the other thanks to a small ramp connecting the two.
Conclusion
Gorilla Kitchen is a centrally located burrito bar and cafe that offers delicious street food, coffee, and mouth-watering sweet treats. The upbeat atmosphere and throwback hip hop music make it a fun spot for a meal or a coffee break. While there is no changing table, high chairs are available for little ones. The step-free space and friendly staff make it an enjoyable and accessible experience for families.
